ML man injured after axle, tire strike vehicle
MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man received minor injuries Wednesday after a tire and axle broke loose from a semi-truck trailer on state Route 17 and struck his vehicle.
About 7 a.m., Felipe Alemancalleja, 47, of Connell, was reportedly driving a 2000 Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer north on SR-17, about nine miles south of Moses Lake, when the left rear axle and tire came off the trailer. The axle and tire reportedly struck a southbound 2007 Ford Focus driven by Joseph Achurra, 36, of Moses Lake, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Achurra was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment. The patrol reports Alemancalleja was cited for operating defective equipment.
