Fatal accident on SR 25

OTHELLO — An accident early Friday morning near milepost 73 claimed the life of a local woman. The Washington State Patrol reported Michelle Jones, 58, of Othello, was killed while attempting to make a U-turn off the eastbound shoulder of SR 24 after assisting a disabled vehicle. A 1997 Ford F250 driven by an Othello man struck Jones’ 1997 Ford Mustang. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the westbound shoulder. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The driver of the F250 was uninjured. Dugs and or alcohol were not a factor in the accident according to WSP. Next of kin has been notified.
