Columbia Basin roundup: Moses Lake softball captures CBBN title
MOSES LAKE — Tia Radach hit two home runs, had six RBI and Moses Lake routed Eastmont 24-3 for the split and its fifth league title in a row.
The Wildcats won the opening game 13-5 behind a seven-run second inning. The Chiefs committed seven errors, allowing the Wildcats to push across eight unearned runs.
Moses Lake got within three runs, 8-5, before Eastmont countered with a four-run fifth inning to put the game out of reach. In Game 1, Radach was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Michelle Turner, Gina Skinner, Brooklyn Bailey and Brooke Richardson also drove runs in.
The second game was a different story from the plate and in the field. The Chiefs committed only one error and led 13-3 after three innings.
To go along with Radach's explosion, Baily homered and had three RBI. Richardson, Savannah Ashley and Paige Valdez had two RBI each.
Cheyenne Walker, along with Radach, had a team-high three hits.
The league championship carries with it an automatic berth into the Class 4A state tournament and a spot in the district title game May 20.
Warden 10-2, Zillah 1-12
ZILLAH — Warden closed its regular season with a split against Zillah, winning the opener 10-1 before losing the next game 12-2.
Warden will host either College Place or Granger Thursday, 4 p.m., in the first round of the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) district tournament.

Royal out of districts
YAKIMA — Royal was eliminated from the SCAC district tournament after losing its consolation game to Naches Valley 4-2.
The Knights kept their season alive Friday with a win against Cle Elum/Roslyn 7-1.
Kaden Jenks opened the game with an RBI double. In the fourth inning, J.C. Worsham hit a triple with the bases loaded to score three runs.
College Place 2, Warden 0
COLLEGE PLACE — Warden had runners on first and second in the seventh inning with no outs, but couldn't score in its loser-out district game with College Place.
College Place scratched out its two runs in the sixth inning on an error that scored a runner and a two-out single.
Cheney 2, Othello 1
CHENEY — Othello was edged out of a berth into the Class 2A state tournament by Cheney 2-1.
College softball
Big Bend 4-11, Treasure Valley 1-2
ONTARIO, Ore. — Shayla Baker pitched a pair of complete games and Big Bend swept Treasure Valley 4-1 and 11-2.
Ember Armstrong doubled twice and had three RBI in the opener.
Pashence Korten and Sierra Trejoa went deep in the second game. Korten also drove in four runs.

Basin natives win Washington State Men's Best-Ball
SPOKANE — Moses Lake's Cameron Whittle and Ephrata's Aaron Whalen combined to win the 61st Washington State Men's Best-Ball Championship.
Whittle carded a 65 and Whalen had an 8-under par 63. The duo beat out Matthew Steele and Tyler Matthews by four shots.
