TRACK AND FIELD

The Othello boys 4x400-meter relay finished second in an impressive field at the Ron Vanderholm Invitational in Royal City on Saturday.

Francisco Alonzo, Easton Roylance, Jesus Gonzalez and Isaiah Perez turned in a time of  3 minutes, 48.85 seconds. Huskies thrower Crystal Arreola marked with a throw of 93-feet to place fifth in the javelin.

At the Linda Smith Track in Selah on May 4, Easton Roylance placed third (2:15.09) in the 800 meters, Brizzia Valenciano (49.51) was third in the 300 hurdles and Isaiah Perez (118-1) in the discus.

Allison Garza (18.46) was fourth in the 100 hurdles and Liz Hernandez (87-1) placed fourth in the discus.

TENNIS

The Huskies boys had three stellar doubles matches to beat Grandview 3-2 on Saturday in the final CWAC dual of the regular season.

Huskies No. 1 doubles Collin Freeman and Kyler Villarreal defeated Roy Escanero and Esgar Valencia 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) to give Othello the edge. Josh Valdez and Miguel Lopez won at No. 2 and Sterling Roylance and Asai Villarreal won the No. 3 doubles to help the Huskies (12-3, 7-2 CWAC).

The Othello girls (13-2, 8-1 CWAC) swept Grandview. Zoee Roylance and Tanaya Andersen won the singles matches to lead the way.

Huskie girls beat East Valley

The Othello girls’ tennis team got a strong effort from the doubles teams to steamroll over East Valley on their 13th victory of the season.

The Huskies (13-2, 7-1 CWAC) beat East Valley 4-1 and dropped a 3-2 decision to CWAC-leading Selah.

Zoee Roylance continued her dominance at No. 1 singles, beating East Valley’s Allison Manion 6-1, 6-3. Tanaya Andersen and Katie Walker won the No. 1 doubles match. Daishawn Roylance and Macy Hampton won in straight sets at No. 2 doubles, as did Janae Freeman and Jenny Walker at No. 3 doubles.

The Othello boys lost a 4-1 decision to East Valley. Collin Freeman and Kyler Villarreal avenged an earlier loss to Gabe Anderson and Danny Scherslight with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.

GOLF

Othello sixth at Suncadia Invite

CLE ELUM — Patrick Azevedo and Isaiah Garzaled Othello to place sixth at the Suncadia Invite May 2.

Azevedo carded a 76 and No. 3 golfer Garza bested his average with an 86, contributing to a team score of 341.

Selah’s Dylan Apodaca shot a blistering 68, edging East Valley’s Ryker Torres by one stroke, for

the individual medal. Mount Si took the team title with four golfers shooting 80 or lower.

Ephrata defeats Othello, Toppenish

SOAP LAKE — Led by Sean Couture, Ephrata defeated Othello and Toppenish May 1 in a CWAC match at Lakeview Golf and Country Club.

Couture’s 75 led the field and paced Ephrata to a total score of 335. Othello scored 382 and Toppenish totaled 478.

Patrick Azevedo was the low man for the Huskies with a score of 82.

The Othello girls finished third behind Quincy and Ellensburg in a CWAC match at Colockum Ridge (498) May 3.
