Columbia Basin roundup: Fast starts help Big Bend sweep WVC

WENATCHEE — Quick starts helped Big Bend complete a sweep of Wenatchee Valley.

The Vikings led 3-0 in the first game and 4-0 in the second game after one inning en route to wins of 12-5 and 8-4.

Led by Seth Reisbeck, the Vikings sprayed 17 hits in the openerand took advantage of seven errors by the Knights. Reisbeck was 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs.

Rich Hekker added two RBI.

Big Bend scored in five consecutive innings and in seven of the nine.

In Game 2, Cody Bankers homered and Moses Lake product Nate Ball drove in three runs.

Warden's Jerry Reyes provided Wenatchee Valley with 5 2/3 innings of long relief. Reyes allowed two runs on five hits, striking out six.

Big Bend closes the regular season Saturday at home against Blue Mountain. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
