MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake methodically regained the lead from Sunnyside and pulled away to win the district play-in game 4-1.

The Grizzles pushed a run across in the top of the first inning and held the lead until the third inning.

Cody Goodwin and Ezekyel Ochoa hit RBI singles to put the Chiefs ahead for good.

The Chiefs tacked on an insurance run each in the fourth and fifth inning. In the fourth, Evan McLean scored on a fielder’s choice when Sunnyside’s first baseman was pulled off the bag on an attempted force out.

In the fifth, Dominic Signorelli smacked another RBI single.

The was more than enough for Jordan Rios who breezed to a complete game. A flair to shallow center field was tracked down by Cameron Duke who made a sliding grab to end the game.

Moses Lake will host Eastmont, 5 p.m., Friday for a chance to move on to the district semifinals Saturday against Wenatchee at West Valley High School.

Kiona-Benton 5, Warden 1

BENTON CITY — Warden spotted No. 1 seed Kiona-Benton four runs in the first inning and lost 5-1 in the first round of its district tournament.

Warden scratched its one run across when Kaden Skone reached on an error and came all the way around to score on a sacrifice fly by J.R. Delgado.

Ryan Arredondo had the Cougars’ lone hit.

Warden will play at College Place May 12 in a loser-out game.

Tri-Cities Prep 11, Soap Lake 1

PASCO — Errors cost Soap Lake in its 11-1 loss to Tri-Cities Prep.

The Jaguars led 3-1 through four innings before tacking on three more in the fifth and five in the sixth to end the game. The loss bounced the Eagles from the postseason.

Francisco Flores drove in Soap Lake’s lone run.
