YAKIMA — a 13-run inning will solve most of softball’s ills.

Down 6-1 after three innings, Moses Lake exploded for 13 runs in the fourth to beat Eisenhower 16-12 in the twin bill’s late game. Moses Lake trailed briefly in the opener, but went on to win 12-1.

The sweep, coupled with Eastmont’s split with Wenatchee, helped the Chiefs (14-1, 14-3) take sole possession of first place in the Columbia Basin Big Nine.

Eisenhower scratched a run across in the first inning of Game 1 before Moses Lake scored 12 unanswered. Gina Skinner, Brooke Richardson and Savannah Ashley drove in two runs each.

Brooklyn Bailey, Cheyenne Walker and Gabi Rios added one RBI apiece.

Skinner struck out five in seven innings pitched.

The Cadets opened up a 6-1 lead in Game 2 before the Chiefs’ league-leading offense awoke. Skinner and Richardson hit two-run singles and Tia Radach plated two more on a triple. More, Radach drove in another run on a fielder’s choice earlier in the inning.

Paige Valdez and Michelle Turner added RBI singles.

Moses Lake hosts Eastmont for senior day, 4 p.m., on Tuesday. The series will determine the CBBN league champion.
