VANTAGE — A semi-truck driver from Mattawa was cited for driving too fast for road conditions after his trailer overturned near the Vantage Bridge on Thursday, April 28, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

About 11:55 a.m. Regan Calaway, 19, of Mattawa, was driving a 2002 Freightliner tractor and trailer west on Interstate 90, about one mile east of Vantage, when he entered the curve at a high rate of speed just before the bridge. The trailer overturned, spilling hay bales into the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-90. A Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Dylan Romine, 23, of Cody, Wyo., then collided with a hale bale in the eastbound lane.

Romine and his passengers, Penny Romine, 52, and Sarah Younger, 20, both of Cody, Wyo., were injured and transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. Regan was not injured.

I-90 was closed in both directions for several hours. The Washington Department of Transportation opened one lane in each direction about 1:30 p.m.
