1 injured in collision near Othello

OTHELLO — Illegal passing reportedly led to an injury collision near Othello Friday.

About 11 a.m. Felipe Tapia Perez, 23, of Othello, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe west on state Route 24, about five miles west of Othello, and passed a vehicle. Tapia Perez reportedly collided with a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by Jaime Gonzalez Ambrocio, 59, of Othello, that was in front of the vehicle Tapia Perez passed, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Gonzalez Ambrocio was injured and transported to Othello Community Hospital for treatment. Tapia Perez was not injured. Both vehicles sustained reportable damages and were impounded. Tapia Perez was cited for illegal passing, according to the patrol.
