Warriors come up short at Quincy Invite last weekend

MATTAWA — The Wahluke High School track team is in the midst of rebuilding the program, and the inexperience showed up on the big stage last weekend at the Quincy Invitational. The Warrior boys finished 15th among the competition. The girls squad placed slightly better taking 13th out of 17 teams participating at the meet

The Ephrata Tigers were the Top Cat on the boys side of things with 103.5 points. Cashmere claimed first place honors on the girls side of the event with 112 points.

Top individual placer for the boys was Tony Avalos, who cleared 5-10 in the high jump to take home third-place hardware. The girls were led by Claudia Olivarez, who set a personal best of 5:56.22 in the 1600-meter run to claim 4th place, and Jessica Arellano, who also set a personal best of 13:00.90 the 3200 to finish 4th as well.
