Soap Lake man arrested in Douglas County stabbing
DOUGLAS COUNTY — A Soap Lake man allegedly stabbed two men at a party in Douglas County over the weekend.
About 1:35 a.m. Sunday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s office received a report of a possible assault in the Douglas Creek camping area, about eight miles south of Highway 2 in Douglas County. Initial reports indicated two individuals had been stabbed and ultimately transported themselves to Confluence Health in Wenatchee, according to Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal on Monday.
Deputies contacted the suspect, identified as Bobby McCurdy, 36, of Soap Lake, at the scene and were able to piece together that McCurdy suspected another male inappropriately touched his wife during a party. McCurdy allegedly stabbed the male party goer and stabbed another male who was attempting to break up the fight.
One of the victims sustained a minor stab wound and was treated and released. The other victim had to go into surgery due to the knife blade penetrating his abdominal wall. Gjesdal said there was a large number of people at the location of the stabbing and alcohol was involved. McCurdy was booked into the Chelan County Jail for investigation of two counts of first-degree assault.
