| March 21, 2017 4:00 AM

May 16, 1917 – March 17, 2017

Regenia “Jean” Luella Carpenter, age 99 years and 10 months, returned to her heavenly home on March 17, 2017 at Columbia Crest Convalescent Center, recovering from a fall, in Moses Lake, Wash. surrounded by her family.

Jean was born May 16, 1917 in Harding County, S.D. to Claude and Hazel Sanford. She was the third born of eight children.

Jean married her first husband, Harvey William Beamis on Sept. 19, 1936 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. Together they were blessed with four children: Dolores, Donald M. Beamis Sr., Mary and Paul. She married her second husband, Ralph Lee Carpenter on Nov. 21, 1970 in Spokane, Wash.

As a child, Jean helped with the family farm and in raising horses. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Wash. At a young age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was ordained in 1974 in Joplin, Mo., into the Pentecostal Church of God. She was a woman of faith and belief in the Lord, and continued to serve the Lord for the rest of her life. As a minister, she accepted her charge to “preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ” with everyone she was in contact with, including her work with the Indian Missions Department of the Pentecostal Church of God. Her knowledge of God’s word was immeasurable and her ability to pray and communicate with the Lord profound. She truly enjoyed her walk with the Lord and the fellowship with her parishioners and Christian brothers and sisters.

Jean was preceded in death by her son Donald Mark Beamis Sr. of Blackfoot, Idaho on Sept. 22, 2016, seven siblings, her parents, and a great-grandson, Thomas Leroy “Duke” Breon Jr.

She is survived by her children Dolores Burnham of Moses Lake, Wash., Mary Keener of Spokane Valley, Wash., Paul J. Beamis of Kalispell, Mont., and daughter-in-law, Carol (Don) Beamis and three stepchildren Illa Swallom, Laura Stratton and Bonnie Young. Jean was also blessed and survived by 22 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 22 second great-grandchildren, and five third great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jean is dearly missed by her loved ones, though we celebrate the fact that she is now at peace with her creator.

The family wholeheartedly appreciates the love and prayers that was given by many who cherished her as much as the family did.
