Royal City man injured after falling asleep at the wheel

ROYAL CITY — A man from Royal City was injured Saturday morning after he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended a tractor.

About 8:50 a.m. Jesus Miron, 19, of Royal City, was driving a 1995 Honda Accord west on state Route 26, about 1.5 miles east of Royal City, when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. Miron reportedly rear-ended a 1997 Peterbilt tractor driven by Braulio Contreras Araujo, 27, of Desert Aire, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Miron was the only person injured. He was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake by ambulance for treatment. The patrol reports Miron was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
