ELECTRIC CITY — Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in a deadly Wednesday rollover collision near Electric City.

About 2 a.m. Brandon Buche, 23, of Electric City, was driving a 2006 Jeep Wrangler on Bay Area Drive, near Coulee View Road, and allegedly failed to negotiate a curve. The Jeep reportedly left the road and rolled, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Buche, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the Jeep. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and transported Buche to Coulee Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. A passenger in the Jeep, identified as Brandon Boutain, 23, of Almira, received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Coulee Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

The sheriff’s office reports alcohol was a factor in the collision. The Grant County Sheriff’s Motor Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the collision.
