Moses Lake High School(s)?

There will be a hearing regarding the school bond election vote in the Superior Court on March 20. The election was not conducted with full attention to requirements of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW).

School district Superintendent Michelle Price stated in an email, as reported by iFiber One News on March 10, “I am very disappointed that a few in our community are so committed to stop the initiation of the election results and to nullify the voice of the voters.” I am extremely disappointed the superintendent does not see an excellent educational opportunity regarding election process integrity.

Why are school board directors, and the superintendent of the Moses Lake school district so interested in pushing the most expensive option, and one which will divide the young people into two separate groups? This could lead to more gang violence. Would that help our city?

Perhaps it’s time for Moses Lake’s citizens to demand the school board to rethink their plans giving full consideration to assuring maximum funding with state dollars rather than local dollars out of our pockets. One high school, one excellent school body, one united city, and minimum cost.

Education may quickly evolve in the next three years. Charter schools, enhanced home schooling, self-education where students come to classrooms for periodic testing (e.g., history, literature), one day per week classroom instruction/testing for computer based classes?

Much greater training in actual vocational “shop” classes – first aid, woodworking, metal shop, cooking, plumbing, electrical basics, and emergency situations. Students should graduate with actual skills that will give them self respect, and respect for other people.
