Johnnie (John) Lord

March 6, 1949 – March 8, 2017

John, beloved son of Hal and Eva (Matsen) Lord, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family.

John is survived by brothers Harry and Phil, sister Marilyn and a very large extended family.

John served his country in the Vietnam Medical Corps from 1968-1970, and was discharged with honors.

John spent the majority of his life living in Boise Idaho, working for Ore-Ida Foods, which allowed him to travel around the world, visit other countries and experience new cultures.

He retired from Ore-Ida, and then in 2000 fulfilled a longtime dream of his and attended the Western Culinary Institute in Portland Ore., where he received his diploma. John then moved to Las Vegas, Nev. and cooked at Emeril’s (Lagasse) restaurant before he decided to further his education again and received a teaching degree. In 2003 he was hired to teach science at the Las Vegas Academy where he taught school until 2010. John then moved to Moses Lake, Wash. in 2015 so he could be closer to family as his health began to decline. John has touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.

John has requested a Memorial Service to be held in Boise, Idaho on the Oregon Trail at sunset, a place that he held dear to his heart. For details please contact a family member.
