Home show coming next week

MOSES LAKE — All things home improvement, from candles to mortgage information, will be on display at the Grant County Fairgrounds March 24 and 25. The Central Washington Home Expo will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 24, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 25. Admission is free.
That’s a change in date, switching to a Friday and Saturday time frame. Expo organizer Tera Redwine said Friday and Saturday seem to be more convenient for potential customers.
“We try to keep it as close to the last weekend of March as possible, depending on Easter,” she said.
Vendors already signed up include construction companies, realtors, banks and mortgage companies. Others at past shows have included landscapers, flooring and window companies, businesses selling home decor and food items.
The Washington Department of Labor and Industries will have an information booth. People thinking about possible home projects can get questions answered about rules, regulations and permitting for home improvement and remodeling projects.
Grant County Animal Outreach will return for the third year with its Adopt-A-Pet program. Dogs and cats ready for adoption will be on hand. Redwine said several animals were adopted at the 2016 expo.
Vendors will be selling home and personal products, including LuLaRoe brand clothing. The line includes clothing for women and girls in all sizes.
Home Depot will sponsor its “Kid Zone,” a craft section for children; the 2017 project is a rain gauge. Costco also will have a booth, where prospective members can buy memberships.
Home Depot donated a smoker-grill as the grand prize for the 2017 raffle. Participants must register during the expo, but do not have to be present at the drawing to win.
Many vendors also offer door prizes, Redwine said.
The Moses Lake Lioness club will open the Spaceburger booth during the weekend. The world-famous Spaceburgers trace their roots back to the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle and are a longtime tradition at the Grant County Fair every summer.
If a Spaceburger isn’t enough, the Grant County ABATE motorcycle club is sponsoring a chili cook-off. Cooks start cooking at 10 a.m., with the taste testing at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $25 per team; admission to the taste testing is $5.
