Columbia Basin roundup: Moses Lake boys tennis starts season strong
MOSES LAKE — A deep roster helped Moses Lake boys tennis finish 3-0 at its jamboree.
The Chiefs bested CWAC schools Othello (4-3) and Ellensburg (6-1), finishing with a win over Cheney (5-2).
“The boys have a deep varsity this year and look to be in the hunt for a league title,” head coach Richard Gregoire said.
No. 1 singles player Canon Gregoire finished 3-0.
Moses Lake struggled on the girls' side, dropping all three matches to Othello (4-3), Ellensburg (6-1) and Cheney (7-0).
Singles players Gabby Strode, Cora Bruneel and Brianna Ceja picked up wins. The Chiefs had to forfeit the No. 3 doubles spot, but expect to be at full strength for their league opener Tuesday at Eisenhower.

Othello ‘A' squad second at home invite
OTHELLO — Othello's ‘A' team finished second at its home invitational to East Valley.
East Valley won comfortably with a score of 249. The top Huskies team totaled 269 strokes. Othello's ‘B' team was fourth and Royal was eighth.
East Valley's Ryker Torres was the medalist, scoring 76.

Cascade 2, Ephrata 0
EPHRATA — Ephrata lost its season opener to Cascade 2-0.
The Tigers host Prosser, 6 p.m., on Tuesday.

Chiefs drops two at jamboree
KENNEWICK — Moses Lake had a tough time in the Tri-Cities, losing both games at the Southridge Jamboree.
Cody Goodwin had Moses Lake's lone hit against the Suns in a 9-0 loss. The Chiefs also lost to Walla Walla 9-4.
Cameron Duke, Carter Stout and Caleb Juarez drove in runs against the Blue Devils.

Moses Lake's jamboree cut short
RICHLAND — Moses Lake was only able to get one three-inning game complete at the Richland Jamboree due to inclement weather.
The Chiefs lost to the Bombers 15-4.
Tia Radach, Kaylee Valdez, Brooke Richardson and Savannah Ashley had one RBI each.
