Fly fishing fair set for Ellensburg

ELLENSBURG — The Washington State Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers (WSCIFFF) Board and fair committee invites fisherman to the 11th annual Fly Fishing Fair at the Kittitas Valley Event Center on May 5-6.

Free seminars will include:

Preston Singletary — Demystifying Sea-Run Cutthroat.

Steve Temple — Secrets of the Clark Fork.

Duane Redford — Mastering Technical Water.

Bruce Bolding — Warmwater Game Fishing Opportunities.

Paul William — Bedrock Bass: Oregon’s Umpqua River.

Sagara — Tricks of the Trade Lefty Taught Me.

Chet Allison — Wade Fishing Washington’s Spokane River.

Duane Redford — Hidden in Plain View, Recognizing the Obvious and Exploiting the Obscure.

Johnny Boitano — Yakima River Trout to name a few.

The Overlake Fly Fishing Club is hosting the Fly Casting Challenge Course. This free challenge will include fly rods and lines provided at the course.

There will be six obstacles to challenge your casting skills. See how good you are in areas that you have perfected and find out where your casting needs more work.

Private lessons with our Guest Casters Molly Semenik and Al Buhr or any of our other Certified Casters may be taken for a fee of $20 for half hour.

About 100 tyers will join Guest Tyer Steven Fernandez at the fair. They will show you how to tie flies that will interest you and give you tips on how to better your tying skills.

Fernandez will be presenting a workshop on Saturday titled Trout Fly’s. The workshop will cost $75, last three to four hours and be limited to six tyers. Go to www.wscifff.org for more details on all workshops.

There will be vendors plying their products in fly casting, fly fishing and fly tying. They will be there to answer your questions and make suggestions.

Times for the fair are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days. Admission is $5 for both, free for IFFF members, kids and students with valid ID.
