Fire near Blue Heron Park knocked down Thursday

MOSES LAKE — A fire near a popular Moses Lake park threatened several homes Thursday afternoon.

The fire, which was located in a field next to Blue Heron Park, started about 3:10 p.m. The Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District No. 5 responded to the scene and quickly went to work to combat the blaze, as the fire was threatening several homes in the Cove West neighborhood.

Crews reported the fire was under control about 3:50 p.m. Firefighters remained at the scene for several hours on Thursday mopping up hot spots. A cause for the fire was not available before the Columbia Basin Herald’s press time on Thursday.
