3 injured in Royal City hit-and-run collision

ROYAL CITY — A hit-and-run collision near Royal City on Sunday left three people injured.

About 9:45 p.m. a 15-year-old boy from Royal City was reportedly driving a 2017 Toyota Camry west on state Route 26 when a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu driven by an unidentified person crossed over the centerline and struck the Camry. The vehicles came to a rest blocking the road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The driver of the Malibu reportedly fled the scene on foot after the collision. The three passengers in the Camry, identified as Vanessa Corona-Campiz, 20, of Royal City, Maria Corona, 49, of Royal City, and Elias Corona, 50, of Royal City, were injured. Maria Corona and Corona-Campiz were transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment. Elias Corona was seriously injured and airlifted from the scene via LifeFlight helicopter to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland for treatment. The teen driver of the Camry was not injured.

The Camry and Malibu were totaled. The cause is under investigation and citations are pending, according to the patrol.
