Columbia Basin Roundup: Peters finishes 15th at elite USGA Junior Qualifer

KENT, Wash. — Kenedee Peters of Ephrata bogeyed four of the last five holes on the front nine and went on to finish with a round of 80 Tuesday at the USGA Girls Junior Qualifier at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent.
Peters, who finished 20th at the U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifier last week, struggled with a patch of bogeys in the middle of her round, starting at the 368-yard, par-4 fifth hole. She managed to par the ninth hole, but made the turn with back-to-back bogeys to finish the tournament at plus-8.
Euna Han of Coquitlam, B.C., was the top qualifier with a 1-under-par 71. Brittany Kwon of Bremerton and Lauryn Nguyen of Seattle shot 72 to finish in a tie for second.
Peters, who will play in the IMG Junior World Qualifier Friday and Saturday at the Tumwater Golf Course, finished 15th in the elite 38-golfer junior field.
Kemper places in the top 10 in eight events
Eric Kemper of Moses Lake moved up an age division with the coming of his 15th birthday and posted six personal bests in eight events at the 2017 Summer Solstice Swim Meet in Spokane over the weekend.
He placed second in the 800-yard freestyle (9 minutes, 52 seconds), fourth in the 100 butterfly, and fifth in the 400 individual medley (5:19). He was also seventh in the 200 IM and eighth in the 200 breaststroke.
Ag World Golf Classic raises $73,000 to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities Inland Northwest
Area agriculture producers, processors and industry businesses rose to the challenge and set a new event record by raising over $73,000 to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Inland Northwest at the Ag World Golf Classic held on Wednesday at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick.
Ag World Golf Classic was born out of a vision – a vision to help families with children who have severe medical needs. Warren Henninger, founder/chairman of Ag World Support Systems, caught the vision to host a Columbia Basin event to support the Ronald McDonald House Inland Northwest in Spokane.
Through the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and golfers, the Ag World Golf Classic has donated more than $233,000 over the past four years to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Inland Northwest.
This year, Ag World Support Systems was joined by co-hosts Simplot, Lamb Weston, McCain Foods, and Potato Growers of Washington to help make this event even greater than past events.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities Inland Northwest provides temporary lodging, comfort and support for families with children accessing medical services in Spokane, Wash. and supports related efforts to improve children’s health in our region.
