Mattawa man dies in weekend collision

MATTAWA — Alcohol and excessive speed reportedly played a role in a deadly single-vehicle collision near Mattawa over the weekend.

About 4:25 p.m. German Jimenez Salcedo, 28, of Mattawa, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Road 24 Southwest at Road U Southwest, east of Mattawa, when he reportedly lost control and the truck started to slide. The Silverado reportedly slide off the south side of the road and rolled twice. The truck then became engulfed in flames and started a small brush fire, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Jimenez Salcedo died at the scene of the collision. The sheriff’s office reports alcohol and excessive speed played a role in the collision. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Motor Traffic Unit is investigating the collision.
