Warden woman dies in Franklin County collision
MESA — A Warden woman died in a three-vehicle collision near Mesa Saturday.
About 7:15 a.m. Sandra Castoreno, 24, of Warden, was driving a 2013 Acura TSX south on state Route 17, about 1.5 miles north of Mesa, when she reportedly crossed the centerline and struck the driver’s side door of a 2004 Honda Accord driven by William Bjur, 63, of Kennewick. Castoreno’s vehicle then reportedly struck a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Israel Gameros-Garcia, 39, of Bridgeport, head-on, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Castoreno died at the scene of the collision. Bjur was transported to Trios Medical Center in Kennewick and Gameros-Garcia was transported to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland for treatment.
The patrol reports Castoreno was driving while impaired.
