Seahawks 12 Tour dance party is coming back around

Jennifer and Michael Homer of Moses Lake just might be able to pull off another “Parents of the millennium moment,” with their daughter Jessy and again this summer if they work things right.

Last year, they taught the kids how to dream big when Jennifer tweeted the Seattle Seahawks, inviting the 12 Tour bus to swing by the house for some barbecue when they visited Moses Lake on the swing through Eastern Washington.

Lo and behold, the Seahawks’ traveling party bus did just that, not just making a cameo appearance, but stopping by to eat ribs, enjoy some Columbia Basin hospitality and help celebrate Jessy’s third birthday, which was the next day.

“It’s kind of a cool, family thing that happens with the Seahawks and their fans,” Jennifer said on the Seahawks website. “I just think the Seahawks have the best team as far as how they treat their fans. It was really neat, something we’ll always remember. We’re in trouble from now on (Jessy) asked ‘Are they’re coming back next weekend?’”

The 12 Tour is making a stop in Othello on Father’s Day, the Homers have a chance to hit another home run with the kids. If they run Jessy down to Othello on Sunday, the can point at Germain Ifedi and say, “See, that big massive man came back to see you again this year.”

She won’t figure it out until prom night, but let’s face it. By the time you figure out your mom was right, you have a daughter that thinks you are not. They can score some serious daddy points on Father’s Day the meantime.

In fact, all of the Columbia Basin families have a chance to make Father’s Day with the Seahawks’ traveling party a day to remember. The 12 Tour includes offensive linemen Germain Ifedi and George Fant, Sea Gals, Blitz and the Blue Thunder drum group. If the party’s anything like it was last year, they will set the bar for Othello street parties.

Actually this one’s in the park, but you know what I mean. DJ Supa Sam will have the jams on high alert. Emcee and host Gee Scott from 710 ESPN Seattle will interview the guys on their second season protecting Russell Wilson and help inform the masses on what to expect in 2017-18.

And of course, Blue Thunder will make “Drumline” seem like an Ice Capades musical, because they sure know how to bring it. Let’s not forget the Sea Gals giving the Columbia Basin some insight to the newest dance steps. I suspect they will give the audience a chance to jump in and strut their stuff.

Last year in Moses Lake was a special memory for the Homer family.

“It was amazing,” Jennifer said. “It was so surreal. I’ve done a lot with the Seahawks. I’ve traveled to games. I’ve gone on the cruises. I’ve been watching them since they started. It was the coolest thing.

“Them singing (Happy Birthday) to Jessy, man that really hit our hearts a lot. It was amazing. The cool thing about the Seahawks organization is that they make the fans feel like family.”

The Seahawks are a world-class organization and I expect they’ll turn Lions Park into one big dance party and leave Othello with a lasting impression of what can happen when you dream big.

Judging by the response on Facebook with close to 20,000 people reached, I would expect the fun to include thousands of Columbia Basin 12. So bring your dad, your family and let them hear you all the way back in Seattle.
