William 'Bill' Brent Weech

| June 8, 2017 3:00 AM

June 25, 1962 – April 20, 2017

William “Bill” Brent Weech, 54, a 32-year resident of Moses Lake, beloved son, brother, father, and friend of many passed away peacefully on April 20, 2017, at his home with family by his side.

Bill was born on June 25, 1962 in White Salmon, Wash. His parents William J. Weech and Mary Ann Wiemer-Weech preceded him in death. Surviving are his two children Calvin Weech and Tiffany Fly and granddaughter Mary Jane whom he adored; siblings Brenda Weech-Kask, Melody Price, Sonia Weech, Scott Weech, Kimberly Simmons and Ronald Weech; 14 nieces and nephews and their children.

Bill grew up in Boise, Idaho and throughout the Greater Yakima Valley. Following graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1982-85. He moved to Moses Lake and went to work at Union Carbide, later known as ASiMI, and ultimately became Lead Slimrod Operator at REC Silicon. He was close friends with many of his co-workers.

Bill was a talented artist and collector, although, he could have just as easily been an archaeologist by the way he examined an object at Bargain Town, turning it upside down to check for markings. He was into American fantasy, sci-fi, and other pop culture such as horror, anime, animation, toys, collectible card games, video games, and superhero comic books. He looked forward to Comic-Con every year, and said that he enjoyed it so much because it created a world for guys just like him.

Bill’s quick wit and warm-hearted spirit was enjoyed by so many people around him. He was most comfortable with familiar faces, but could also be the first to open up with a joke and an introduction to put people at ease. He was generous with his time and, with his wide range of interests and things to say, he was fun to be around. He didn’t like being alone. He loved spending time with family and friends, listening to music, home-cooked meals, Starbucks, and cheering for the Seahawks. He’d spend hours, days really, visiting the staff at Staples, and many other shopkeepers. Making the rounds and telling people about his recent finds was as much as his life as going to work. New people in his life discovered quickly what friends and family already knew – that his lively personality always kept him a center of attention. With great respect and heavy hearts, Bill will be dearly missed by all of those whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held on June 24, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 814 N. Stratford Rd., Moses Lake, Wash. Please join family and friends in a Celebration of Bill’s life. There will be plenty of stories and time for sharing memories and photos.
