Coulee City man dies in collision near Soap Lake

SOAP LAKE — A man from Coulee City died in a collision near Soap Lake early Friday morning.

About 4:50 a.m. Michael Burns, 62, of Coulee City, was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon south on state Route 17, north of Soap Lake, when he reportedly crossed over the northbound lanes and went onto the gravel shoulder. He reportedly veered back across the southbound lanes and left the road to the right. The Yukon went over an embankment, rolled and came to a rest on its driver’s side, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Burns died at the scene of the collision. The patrol reports the cause of the collision is under investigation.
