Failure to stop at a stop sign resulted in a two-car collision and the death of a driver five miles east of Othello Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, a grey 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Andrew Huber, 17, from Warden, collided with a silver 2014 Chevrolet Cruz driven by Katie Sadowsky, from Everett, after Huber ran a stop sign near milepost 47-8 off SR 26 and Booker Road.

Huber was headed southbound on Booker and was approaching SR26 when his vehicle struck Sadowsky’s driver side door as her car, traveling westbound, was entering the intersection. Both vehicles came to rest on the eastbound shoulder of SR26.

Huber died at the scene. Sadowsky was injured and transported by ambulance to Othello Hospital. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were involved. The accident is under investigation.
