MOSES LAKE — Anyone traveling south out of Moses Lake to Warden, Othello, and points beyond on SR-17 is going to face delays this week.

According to the state Department of Transportation, work began Monday on a $300,000 project to resurface four separate intersections south of Moses Lake on SR-17 from South Frontage Road East to Road 3 Southeast.

Drivers should expect delays up to 10 minutes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. between Monday and Friday, as road crews grind up and replace the asphalt in the four intersections, WSDOT said in a press release.

“Work will require replacement of rumble strips, recessed pavement markers, and pavement markings, along with adjustment of utilities,” WSDOT said.

In Moses Lake itself, construction work resumes this week at two separate locations — at the intersection of West Broadway Avenue (SR-171) and Beech Street near downtown and then SR-17 west of the Grant County International Airport.

According to WSDOT, the project at Broadway and Beech is a continuation of work started earlier this year to improve drainage and the walkway’s handicapped accessibility. The work on SR-17 north of Moses Lake includes “slope flattening, signing and erosion control.”

Work on the SR-17 project began on Monday and is expected to last through today (Wednesday) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., while work on the Broadway Beech project was expected to last until yesterday (Tuesday). Some lane closures are expected with both projects.
