Liberty Quartet to sing at First Baptist Church

MOSES LAKE — The gospel choir Liberty Quartet will be in Moses Lake this weekend, singing their message of hope, grace and redemption.

Based in Meridian, Idaho, the Liberty Quartet will be singing at First Baptist Church in Moses Lake, 724 W. Fourth Ave. on Sunday, July 23, beginning at 11 a.m.

“Liberty always leads the congregation in an incredible concert of worship,” said a news release from Liberty Ministries. “Their ministry bridges all generations, bringing enjoyment to traditional and contemporary venues.”

The Liberty Quartet has been singing and touring for the last 21 years, and is comprised of bass Royce Mitchell, lead Paul W. Ellis, and baritone Derek Simonis. Tenor Philip Batton, who has rejoined the group after briefly leaving in December, 2016, will not be joining the group in Moses Lake, according to the quartet’s website, and will not be singing full-time against until the beginning of August.

“Liberty travels many miles each year, ministering in performances for church services, nursing homes, prisons, and other ministries,” according to a Liberty Ministries news release.

The group has also played a number of festivals in the U.S. and Canada. They have also recorded and produced a number of CDs, including recordings of original songs, old-time gospel songs, and popular American hymns.
