Fire destroys shop near Ephrata on Monday

EPHRATA — A shop near Ephrata was destroyed by a fire Monday afternoon.

About 2:15 p.m. firefighters with Grant County Fire District No. 13 responded to a report of a structure fire in the 14000 block of Dodson Road Northwest. First responders at the scene discovered a shop had become fully engulfed in flames and was threatening a nearby home.

The blaze reportedly sparked a small wildfire. The Ephrata Fire Department and Grant County Fire District No. 7 responded to the scene.

Firefighters were able to save the home and contain the wildfire, but the shop was a complete loss. One person was transported from the scene via AMR Ambulance for injuries that were related to the fire.

The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined and is under investigation by the Grant County Fire Marshal.
