| July 18, 2017 4:00 AM

July 23, 1937 – July 12, 2017

Kent received his invitation to return home to his Eternal Heavenly Father to attend a great family reunion on July 12, 2017.

He was born on July 23, 1937 in Rexburg, Idaho. He loved being an Idaho farm boy. He married his high school sweetheart Ronda Lea Mullens on June 7, 1957 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home in Othello, Wash. in 1958, where they raised their three daughters. Kent was a hardworking man who was willing to take a risk in starting his own company, Pearson Construction, in 1970, leaving his footprint in the great northwest for generations to come. After the death of his wife, he married Barbara Jean Bartley Ward on Dec. 3, 1988.

Kent had a passion for life, feeling reward in hard work, beautiful country, family and Church. As a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), he served valiantly in Scouts for 40 years. He received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, which is one of Scouting’s highest honors. He loved attending the temple and being a temple worker for 13 years. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord, family and doing a good deed daily for others. He was always looking for ways to help others. His example will be missed but not forgotten. It lives on in his children and grandchildren.

Kent is survived by his wife Barbara Jean Bartley; his daughters RaKae (Daniel) Davis, Rachelle and Deborah Pearson; his stepchildren Mick (Joni) Ward, Deanna (Larry) Vissar, Ken (Jill) Ward, Steve (Sandy) Ward and Laura (Greg) Bicknell; his 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Lola Petersen, Nadine Pearson, Julia (Kendal) Thompson, Margaret (Todd) Munoz and Myrtle (Jim) Lawes. He is preceded in death by his parents John Theo (Camilla Mary Williams) Pearson; his earthly mother Tressa Munro Pearson; his first wife Ronda Lea Mullens; his brother J. Dale Pearson; his sisters Leah Gardner, Carol Pearson and LaRue Madsen and grandson Zac Ward. Kent fought the good fight, finished the race and endured to the end.

Funeral services will be held on July 22, 2017 at the LDS Stake Center on 12th Street and Rainier Drive in Othello, Wash. Viewing will start at 10 a.m. and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at the Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens in Othello, Wash.

Kent’s daughters would like to give a special thanks to Barbara, Mick and Laura for caring for our dad these last couple of months.
