MOSES LAKE — An early Saturday morning fire in Ephrata destroyed one home and damaged nearby structures.

Firefighters with the Ephrata Fire Department responded to combat the house fire, located in the 400 block of Sixth Avenue Southwest, about 3:35 a.m. Ephrata police responded to the scene first after seeing the fire call come across and started to evacuate several residences on Sixth Avenue and notified homeowners on D Street Southwest and Seventh Avenue Southwest.

Due to the severity of the blaze, Grant County Fire Districts 7 and 13 responded to the scene to provide mutual aid. At least one residence on Sixth Avenue was destroyed by the blaze, with other nearby structures receiving minor fire-related damages.

“While it is unfortunate property was lost, crews did a great job performing aggressive knockdown and preventing the fire from spreading to other structures. We are also assisted by Ephrata police, AMR ambulance and Grant PUD. Having strong working relationships with the organizations is a vital part of what we do,” stated EFD officials.

There were no reported injuries in the fire. The EFD did not return a call for comment on the cause of the fire.
