Rodeo and fair to offer combo tickets

MOSES LAKE — Summer is here.

And with it come the heat, the dust, the tumbleweeds, and fire. Combines start cutting swathes through wheat and barley, and right about now, everyone begins to realize just how little time there really is until school starts again.

It’s also time for the Grant County Fair and the Moses Lake Roundup.

For those who cannot get enough of horsemanship, of bull riding and steer roping, of small children riding sheep, or of cattle lowing and pigs squealing while they are judged for show, or of deep-fried food on a stick, the fair and the roundup are teaming up again this year to offer a combo ticket.

For 18 little dollars, people aged 10 and older will be allowed to attend all three nights of the rodeo and all four days of the fair, according to Tyler Brown, the treasurer of the Moses Lake Rodeo Association. For those 7-9 years old, combo tickets cost $6.

Children under 6 are free, Brown said.

“It’s the same as last year,” Brown added.

Tickets are expected to go on sale at the Green Gate when the rodeo offices open to the public on July 25, Brown said.

“North 40 Outfitters will have them for sale as well beginning the last week of July,” Brown said.

The Grant County Fair opens on Tuesday, Aug. 15 and goes through Saturday, Aug. 19. The Moses Lake Rodeo begins on Thursday, Aug. 17 and lasts through Saturday, Aug. 19, as well.

The combo ticket also covers the Demo Derby on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
