Kemper performs well at IE Velocity Swimming Starlight Meet in Wenatchee
WENATCHEE — Moses Lake swimmer Eric Kemper is tuning up for the 2017 Arena Western Zone Senior Championships at just the right time.
The Moses Lake 15-year-old swam seven personal bests, placing in the top 10 in nine events this past weekend at the 2017 IE Velocity Swimming Starlight Meet in Wenatchee recently.
The highlight of the weekend came when he dropped five seconds off his personal best to win the 200-meter butterfly in 2 minutes, 19.08 seconds. He also placed third in the 100 butterfly (1:02.25), third in the 200 freestyle (2:10.67) and fourth in the 400 freestyle (4:38.92), dropping almost seven seconds off his previous best.
Kemper also placed in several other events.
7. 400 individual medley, 5:14.34. 7. 200 individual medley, 2:28.36. 8. 200 baskstroke. 9. 200 breaststroke, 2:56.54. 10. 100 backstroke. 11. 50 freestyle, 27.58.
The 2017 Arena Western Zone Senior Championships, hosted by Clovis Swim Club, will be Aug. 1-5 at the Clovis North Aquatics Complex in Fresno. Calif.
