Basin roundup: Walleyes swept by Yakima Valley

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake totaled one hit and was swept by Yakima Valley in a doubleheader Monday night at Larson Playfield.

The Peppers wasted no time in Game 1, racing to a 7-0 lead after two innings before winning 14-0. Moses Lake dropped the second game 6-0.

In the opener, Dylan Bishop pitched a perfect game for the Peppers in five innings with six strikeouts.

After scoring four runs in the first inning, Yakima Valley extended its lead to 7-0 in the second innings with an RBI triple, single and double. The Peppers tacked on two more runs in the third inning and enacted the 10-run rule with five more in the fifth.

Andrew Frey lasted three innings, allowing nine runs on 11 hits. Brent Mendenhall pitched two innings of relief and gave up five runs.

Game 2 was scoreless after four innings before the Peppers struck for four runs in the fifth. Yakima Valley smacked 10 hits and added two insurance runs in the seventh inning.

Gabe Passey recorded the Walleyes’ lone hit of the evening; Sawyer Jenks, Tre Ramirez and Mendenhall reached base on walks.

Passey pitched four scoreless innings before the Peppers caught up with him in the fifth. Passey allowed four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.

Dane Hall was 3-for-4 with two RBI for Yakima Valley.

Moses Lake travels to Yakima Valley for a doubleheader today.

Moses Lake undefeated on first day of Pasco Redneck Camp

PASCO — Moses Lake finished 5-0 on the first day of the Pasco Redneck Camp.

The Chiefs dominated their first four bouts, beating Chewelah 64-6, Bishop Kelly 59-9, Cascade 70-3 and Peninsula 68-3.

In the final dual, Moses Lake outlasted Ringworm 42-24.
