Columbia Basin roundup: Big Bend men use big run to put away TVCC
MOSES LAKE — Treasure Valley led 69-68 mid-way through the second half.
Big Bend proceeded to go on a 27-7 run to put the game away. The Runnin’ Vikes led 95-76 with just under three minutes left and beat the Chukars 104-85.
After a sluggish start, the Runnin’ Vikes scored 65 points in the second half. Jacob McCord continued his big season with 22 points and 16 rebounds, despite fouling out of Monday’s game.
Joey Andrews led Big Bend (6-2, 14-7) in the scoring column with 24 points. Jai Jai Ely and Leo Behrend added 20 and 15 points, respectively. More, Ely led the team with four assists.
Big Bend opened up a 20-point lead in the first half, 30-10, before Treasure Valley charged back before intermission. After trailing 38-27, the Chukars closed the half on a 11-1 run to draw within one point.
Hunter Bailey matched Andrews with 24 points, while three other Chukars scored 15 points each. However, outside of the quartet of Bailey, Jaden Vaughn, Troy Williams and Tyus Jefferson, TVCC could only manage 16 points.
Big Bend is in a three-way tie for second place in the East Region and trails Walla Walla by one game for the top spot. Big Bend hosts Wenatchee Valley (2-6, 6-13) Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Treasure Valley 58, Big Bend 51
MOSES LAKE — Big Bend’s skid continued with a 58-51 loss to Treasure Valley.
After starting East Region play 2-0, the Vikings have lost six games in a row.
Chelsee Baker, who played her freshman season at Big Bend, burned her former team with a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds. Hailey Garrity led the Vikings with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Big Bend led by one point after three quarters, 42-41, but was outscored 17-9 in the fourth.
Big Bend will look to rebound Wednesday against Wenatchee Valley (2-5, 7-11), 6 p.m., at home.
