The beginning of a new presidency: a time for change

I set aside time Friday to watch the entire inauguration of President Donald J. Trump and was happy to see him take the reins.

Saturday I watched a little of the protest marches and was glad Trump has taken the reins.

What a sad spectacle. Nobody enjoys more personal freedom than an American, and still we have people who claim they are denied.

Now is the time to act for limited — very limited — federal government, just as the founders intended. It’s been too big for too long. Too many people, including D.C. politicians, have taken advantage of the rest.

What you saw Saturday is the very result Thomas Jefferson said would come after people learned they could legislate for themselves what they really should earn. That march was all about abortion and little else.

Americans who want to be free to kill the unborn are free to do so. What they are really marching about is having the rest of us pay for it. No way.

You should want a government that helps people who can’t help themselves regarding the necessities of life. Abortion is not one of them. Abortion is about choice — conceive or not conceive.

As far as general welfare programs go, those should be limited too. Among all the rights individuals have is the right succeed — or not.

What individuals do with this freedom is up to them. If they quit at the first failure, that’s on them. If they try again, fail again and quit again, that’s still on them.

God gave you life and freedom and absolutely nothing else, not even clothing. The rest is up to your parents and you, mostly you. If you’ve had a disappointing life, go look in the mirror for answers.

Donald Trump is the first president in a long time who sides with the people who are tired of paying the welfare bill, not only for countrymen but outsiders too.

But it’s not just personal welfare. We need to end corporate welfare, too. An old report surfaced recently that billions of dollars have been lost somewhere in the Pentagon.

It’s not lost, just mal-appropriated. It’s in the hands of shady politicians, lobbyists or corporate bosses involved in the business of maintaining our defenses.

Trump touched on this when he told Boeing that the coming new Air Force One is overpriced and Lockheed-Martin that jet fighters on order cost too much.

What’s happened at the Pentagon is only an example of what has been happening throughout government, perpetrated by people for which you voted and trusted.

Other than a successful businessman, I don’t know Donald Trump. I hope he is the man who will finally lead us all toward prosperity. Earned prosperity, that is.

Now’s the time to strike, while you have a president who understands the mess and is willing to tackle it. If you don’t step up now, then what comes next is on you.
