Prep roundup: Moses Lake girls bowling qualifies two for state tournament

EAST WENATCHEE — Moses Lake girls bowling had two individual state qualifiers advance from the District 6 4A Championship at Eastmont Lanes.

Camille Sanislo and Charley Sanislo finished tied for sixth and eighth respectively. Camille Sanislo totaled 538 pins and Charley had 534.

West Valley’s Rayna Tilley and Wenatchee’s Jessica Holbrook nabbed the other individual berths.

Eastmont won the district championship comfortably with 4,084 pins. Wildcat star Cheyanne Greening was the individual champion with 686 pins — the only bowler to record a score of over 600.

Eisenhower finished in second place and also advanced to the state tournament.

Girls state bowling begins Feb. 2 at the Narrows Plaza Bowl.

Boys wrestling

Ephrata 54, East Valley 25

YAKIMA — Ephrata earned nine pins and beat East Valley 54-25.

Sammy Flores (106), Clay Johns (113), Will Anderson (138), Corbin Sager (152), Cole Spencer (170), Mac Laird (182), Drew Anderson (195), Eli Guevara (220) and Efrain Bedolla (285) all won by fall.

The Tigers lost four matches to the Red Devils.

Quincy 54, Grandview 21

GRANDVIEW — Quincy won the first seven matches of the dual and dispatched Grandview 54-21.

The Jacks led 39-0 before Grandview’s Anthony Alcantar pinned Rigo Hernandez (220).

Devon Salcedo (145), Tanner Wallace (160), Victor Tafoya (170), Ray Robinson (182), Jerry Hodges (195) and Rey Rubio (285) pinned their opponents.

Wapato 37, Othello 36

WAPATO — Othello was edged by Wapato 37-36.

The Huskies host Prosser and Quincy today in a double dual that starts at 7 p.m.

Boys basketball

Selah 85, Ephrata 57

SELAH — Cameron Clark scored 21 points, but Ephrata dropped a road game to Selah 85-57.

“They just out-played us tonight,” head coach Brandon Evenson said.

Jakob Oxos added 14 points.

Royal 81, Othello 68

OTHELLO — Trenton Cutforth scored 23 points for Othello in a loss to Royal 81-68.

The Knights were led by Kaden Jenks who scored a game-high 26.

The Huskies trailed 40-31 at halftime.

Soap Lake 67, Liberty Bell 29

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake raced to a 27-4 lead and never looked back against Liberty Bell, winning 67-29.

“Tonight there was great intensity from the get-go,” head coach Agustin Pedregon said.

Brayden Winters flirted with a triple-double, totaling 11 points, eight assists and nine rebounds.

Jackson Wilks scored 19 points.

Moses Lake Christian 54, Cascade Christian 34

WENATCHEE — Ben Cabellero carried Moses Lake Christian to a 54-43 win at Cascade Christian.

Cabellero had a game-high 34 points; the next closest scorer was Noah Torres with six.

Walter Meise and Weston Meise added five points each.

Girls basketball

Selah 63, Ephrata 52

SELAH — Ephrata fell to Selah 63-52.

No other details were available by press time.

Royal 48, Othello 31

OTHELLO — Royal outlasted Othello in a non-league game 48-31.

Alexis Coronado led the Huskies with 12 points; Macy Hampton added six.

Liberty Bell 52, Soap Lake 49

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake could not quite pull off the upset against Liberty Bell and lost 52-49.

“It really came down to who really had the ball at the last possession,” Pedregon said.

Nicole Sprague had 13 points with three made three-pointers. Samantha White added 11 points, five assists and seven steals.

Moses Lake Christian 36, Cascade Christian 30

WENATCHEE — Kyersten Hunt scored 19 points and Moses Lake Christian downed Cascade Christian 36-30.

Rylee Homesly added 12 points.
