CBHA Receives National Excellence Recognition
CBHA was recently notified that it had been chosen as the Studer Group Physician Service Line of the Quarter; CBHA will be featured on the group’s web site for the months of January through March, 2017. “This is a really big honor for us,” Greg Brandenburg, CBHA Executive Director, said. “CBHA is being recognized for its hard work and dedication to achieving clinical, service and operational excellence.” The Studer Group works with healthcare organizations in the United States, Canada, Australia, and beyond to help them achieve and sustain exceptional improvement in clinical outcomes and financial results.
CBHA is beginning its fourth year of partnership with the Studer Group. “It has been a really positive experience for us,” Brandenburg said. Studer’s stated goal is to make healthcare better – for employees to work, physicians to practice medicine and patients to receive care. “We think this has happened at CBHA. We have worked side by side with Studor to create the kind of environment that naturally attracts high performers and allows them to thrive. Together we have worked to establish a framework that allows us to operate with efficiency, discipline and accountability that helps achieve a high level of quality.”
The Columbia Basin Health Association (CBHA) officially incorporated in 1972. It was first located in a small office on Cedar Street in Othello. Staff included one doctor, a nurse and several support personnel. Industry in the Othello area then, as now, revolved around agriculture and the labor force necessary to sustain it. That clinic, CBHA’s Family Clinic, moved to its current location on Main Street in 1976. Dental services were added in 1995. CBHA’s Wahluke Family Dental Clinic opened in 1998 in Mattawa, WA, with two exam rooms; a medical clinic opened the following year at the same location. CBHA and 14th Avenue Medical Center merged in 2004. Eye care services were also added in 2004 in Othello. Dental services were provided to Connell in 2008 with medical services added in 2011. Pharmacy services are available at the Othello Family Clinic, the Mattawa Family Clinic and the Connell Family clinic.
Medical, dental, vision and pharmacy services will come together under one roof in August, 2017 in Othello. “Construction is in full swing on a comprehensive new CBHA Health Care Campus on 14th Avenue. If you look to the left when you are driving south on 14th Avenue, past Wahitis Elementary School, you will see the clinic. The new facility will house 60 medical exam rooms, 20 dental exam rooms, laboratory, pharmacy, eye care, radiology, family services, walk-in clinic and a café. We remain committed to our community and our vision remains the same: ‘To be a model of excellence in patient satisfaction in community and migrant health and a community leader in initiating and developing collaborative relationships’.”
