Dora Dee Herd Ellis
February 21, 1929 – January 12, 2017
Dora Dee Herd Ellis died Jan. 12, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Yuba City, Calif.
She was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Weldon Christen Herd and Nellie Manilla Dawson Herd. She spent her youth in Preston and graduated from high school there. She married Vernon J. Ellis on Aug. 26, 1949 in Preston. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 16, 1965. Following their marriage they settled in Buhl, Idaho. In 1964 they moved to LaGrande, Ore. and then to Moses Lake, Wash. in 1966 where they lived for many years until Dora sold her home in 2005. Since then she has spent time with each of her children.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: daughter Kristine and Larry Hearn, of Yuba City, Calif., son Roger J and Charlotte Ellis, of Animas, N.M., daughter LuAnn Gibbons, Salt Lake City, Utah and son Dee J and Flora Ellis of Sugar City, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Paul and Nereece Herd of Draper, Utah and step-mother-in-law Lucy Ellis of Logan, Utah. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and two sisters, Rene Adamson and Helen Bowen.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday Jan. 21, 2017 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St. in Logan. A viewing will be held starting at 11:00 am prior to services.
