MATTAWA — With winter vacations to Mexico ended, the Wahluke High School girls basketball team got together last Friday for a 45-33 victory over Royal in SCAC East action.

They were unable to play Saturday against College Place when that contest was postponed due to severe weather.

“It was nice to have a full roster back,” coach Brock Anderson said. “Looking down our bench, I kind of felt like I was at Krispy Kreme, with all the varieties of combinations that were available. It was a big difference from last month, when we had only one player sitting there.”

The best combination was any that included KayLynn Bailey. She led the team with 15 points and 18 points. Jackie Hidalgo scored 10 points, and Gissell Torres added nine.

“We played pretty well defensively,” Anderson said. “A sluggish third quarter offensively but otherwise executed pretty well.”

The Warriors played Warden last night, too late for press time. They will be at home this weekend to Burbank and Connell.
