Woman allegedly points gun at boyfriend, son

MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake woman was charged for allegedly pointing a gun at her boyfriend and 2-year-old son.

Grant County prosecutors charged Hillary Matousek, 39, of Moses Lake, with two counts of second-degree assault.

On Dec. 31 the Grant County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Moses Lake Police Department at a home in the 100 block of Schilling Drive. Police were advised a woman at the residence had threatened to kill herself with a gun and threatened to harm other people in the house, according to police records.

The reporting party told police his girlfriend, Matousek, had gotten into an argument with her daughter that turned physical. When the daughter left the residence, Matousek allegedly grabbed her gun and pointed it at her boyfriend and 2-year-old son. She allegedly told her boyfriend if he let her daughter back into the house that night she would kill him, her daughter and herself.

The man told police he believed if Matousek was contacted by police she would overreact and possibly injure herself or “be tempted with suicide by cop.” He advised Matousek has a split-personality disorder, which she takes medication to treat.

Police responded to the residence and were able to take Matousek into custody without incident. She told officers earlier in the night she had agreed to take her daughter to the store, but she took too much time to get ready and her daughter grew impatient. Matousek admitted to open hand slapping her daughter in the face and said her daughter knocked her to the floor. Matousek’s boyfriend escorted her daughter out of the house, which Matousek said made her angry, as she believed her boyfriend took her daughter’s side in the fight.

“Matousek said she remembered going into her room and getting her handgun. Matousek said she remembered walking back with the gun in her hand into the living room where (her boyfriend) was seated on the couch watching television with (her son). Matousek said she remembers being mad and talking to (her boyfriend), but did not remember what she said.”

She said she had no intention of hurting her boyfriend or son and she only got the gun because “people listen to you better when you have a gun.” Matousek told officers he didn’t believe Matousek went over the line and he thought the gun made the incident sound worse than it actually was.
