Tebow wins national award for ag-themed Facebook page
MOSES LAKE — Sue Tebow started out taking pictures and telling stories.
But her work on her agri.CULTURE Facebook page has won her the Agriculture Council of America’s Charles Eastin Award for 2017 as “an individual who stands out as an advocate for accurate communications between rural and urban audiences.”
“This is pretty cool,” Tebow said. “It’s a pretty big deal, and I’m pretty honored that they chose me.”
“Hopefully,” she added, “it will help the [Facebook] page grow and get more recognition.”
Tebow began the Facebook page nearly a year ago to “showcase the unique culture of the real people working in agriculture,” according to a statement from the Kansas-based Agriculture Council of America.
“Being a farmer herself, Tebow knows first hand the hard work and honest sweat that comes with the culture of this rural lifestyle,” the council statement said.
“At the end of the day she talks about how good it feels to be part of something bigger than her and how it is her personal mission to share this world of agriculture she knows so well with others,” the statement continued.
Tebow will be presented with her award on National Ag Day, March 21, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
“I get to go to Washington, D.C., that will be fun,” Tebow said.
The Agriculture Council of America organizes National Ag Day as a way to celebrate farming in communities and classrooms across the country, especially in places where people might not be well connected to farming anymore.
