MOSES LAKE — Parents and kids spent the evening connecting the dots and making words, rolling the dice and getting into "Trouble" – the board game kind – at the first “Power Up Parent Night” at Peninsula Elementary School recently.

Family board games are “a great way for parents (and children) to practice and reinforce essential skills like taking turns, problem solving and language development,” said Peninsula principal Sydney Richins. “Each family received a board game to take home.”

Game night also included dinner, Richins said.

After dinner and board games, parents were asked to review and make suggestions for Peninsula’s parent involvement policy, she said. Parents got a copy of the current policy and “were asked to add any new ideas they would like to see at Peninsula that would improve parent engagement. Once parents shared their ideas, they prioritized them. We were excited to see the ideas parents shared.”
