MOSES LAKE — Veteran newspaper manager Bob Richardson was recently named publisher of the Hagadone-owned Sun Tribune and Basin Business Journal. His first official day on the job is March 1.

Richardson, 42, of Moses Lake, is currently advertising/circulation director of the Columbia Basin Herald. He brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the position and served in various roles with the company. His first stint with the Herald was from 1996-2001, when he worked as circulation sales manager/district manager. He was employed as advertising director of the weekly newspaper in Ephrata from 2001-2010 and returned to the Herald in 2010.

“Bob brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in print media, including sales, advertising and circulation. His 20-plus years experience in the industry will provide his team with the leadership and support to continue their success,” said Eric LaFontaine, CEO and publisher of Columbia Basin Publishing Co. and Hagadone Digital-Washington. I’m excited for this new chapter in his life and the numerous opportunities for him to take a leadership position within these communities, including the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association.”

Richardson’s priorities include solidifying the company’s commitment to readers in Othello, Royal City and Mattawa as their number 1 source for local news while providing local businesses with an opportunity to grow their market share, LaFontaine said. Another priority is finding an editor for the Sun Tribune/Basin Business Journal.

The Columbia Basin Herald is also recruiting for an advertising director and circulation manager. Circulation/Newspapers in Education Coordinator Ashley Hoffer will serve as interim circulation manager until a permanent replacement is found.

“I am excited about this change because of the many new opportunities that will arise from having a leadership presence in the communities we serve,” LaFontaine said. “I am also excited for the growth and development of Bob as he begins his career as publisher.”

Richardson has two daughters, Brooke and Paige and a son Chris, and is a coach for the Moses Lake Rattlers Fastpitch Team. He is a board member of the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce and past board member of the Moses Lake Business Association. As Richardson transitions into his role, he will become involved in community organizations with his new readership.
