COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Moses Lake 10u Coyotes participated in the Coeur d’Alene Hockey Tournament this past weekend, bringing home a second-place finish.

The Coyotes began the tournament pool play against Coeur d’Alene #3 with a 5-3 win on Friday night. Saturday brought two more games that would decide their placement on Sunday.

The Coyotes first match-up Saturday was against Moscow Black. It was a tight 1-1 game late into the third period when Moscow scored the game-winner, 2-1. The Coyotes were in a must-win situation against Missoula Saturday night, a game which would ultimately decide who was going to the 1st/2nd place game versus Christeros Christian Academy.

Missoula opened the scoring and went up 1-0 early, but Moses Lakes goaltender Wyatt Horst and the defense took over from there not allowing another goal. Zane Harden and Travis Shearer lead the offensive charge, scoring five unanswered goals leading to a 5-1 victory and a birth into the championship game.

In the championship against Christeros, Moses Lake showed a lot of heart, but fell short 6-2. Moses Lake 10u finishes up the season this Saturday at Larsen Rec Center with two games against Tri-Cities.
