Royal City man dies in accident near Connell

CONNELL — A man from Royal City died in a one-vehicle rollover collision near Connell on Monday.

About 3:35 p.m. Jose Alvarez, 63, of Royal City, was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer north on state Route 395, about 11 miles south of Connell in Franklin County, and reportedly went off the road. The Explorer reportedly rolled and came to a rest on its right side, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Alvarez was transported to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland for treatment. He later died at Kadlec from injuries he received in the collision. The Explorer was totaled and impounded.

The patrol is investigating the collision’s cause.
