Washington state passes new education funding bill

| February 10, 2017 2:00 AM

The state lawmakers passed a bill for funding local bond levies with statewide levy dollars last week. This new bill should help to reduce or eliminate the local tax burden of the existing bond being proposed by the MLSD.

If the current school bond of $135 million is approved the local people will not have the opportunity to take advantage of the new state education funding process.

If we can’t stop the election process because of the timing then I would at least recommend that everyone vote “no” right now and let the new state funding process resolve the cost issue with new schools in Moses Lake.
