Vote 'yes' for Moses Lake schools

| February 9, 2017 2:00 AM

I hope you’ll join us in voting “yes” for Moses Lake schools.

My husband graduated MLHS class of 1984, and I graduated in 1985. We were lucky to have reasonable class sizes where the focus inside and outside the classroom was quality education. We didn’t have the overcrowding issues.

Things changed as our daughters went to the high school where overcrowding became an issue. By the time our youngest graduated in 2013, the overcrowding was a prevailing discussion around her education.

While I am grateful for all that the school district has done to provide a quality experience for our children despite the overcrowding (and I do believe they have worked so hard), I am left plagued with how much more valuable today’s kids experience would be if they didn’t have to try to learn around modified schedules. How much easier would it be for teachers and administration if they could get back to what they love most – teaching? And for that matter, our kids’ environment for learning?

As I sit here writing, granddaughter in my lap asking me “whatcha doing?” I tell her I want to see her, her cousins and future friends know what it’s like to have enough classroom space and all the other life-defining benefits that come along with it.

Please join us in voting yes for Moses Lake schools.
